Printing Guide - Special Colors
|
The best known providers of special colors are HKS and Pantone. Currently, we offer these for one and two coloured prints.
Special colors are indeed more colorful, but there may be discrepancies in the finishing of the material (by coating and laminating, for example).
HKS:
The HKS color system consists of 88 basic set colors. The HKS colors are also distinctly differentiated by their respective substrates.
- HKS-K (art printing paper - coated)
- HKS-N (natural paper - uncoated)
- HKS-E (continuous stationery)
- HKS-Z (newsprint)
Pantone:
The color system is made up of over 1,000 color nuances and contains differences between coated and uncoated paper. Due to the mixture, there may be color deviations.

Using Special Colors:
When you choose to use special colors in a print with one or two colors, you can define the colors directly in the special color, for example in a PDF.
As a second option, you can create process colors, e.g. CYAN or MAGENTA, in the comment section of your order and they will be assigned to special colors.
e.g. cyan = HKS 13 magenta = HKS 43
If you want to create a special color for an existing 4C print, you have to create it in the corresponding special color.
With the request form you can inquire as to whether your layout is realizable.
